Have you ever wondered how the Auto-Import button on a part page works?
The Auto-Import feature allows you to add parts directly to your CAD tool. This is currently available only for Altium, KiCad, and Eagle. In order to use it, you need to have the SnapEDA Desktop App installed and connected to your tool.
The way it works is that once you click the Auto-Import button, it will download the .snap file which will be automatically recognized by the SnapEDA Desktop app, it will allow you to add the part into your CAD tool directly. Make sure to have the app opened so that it will recognize the file.
If in case you do not have the SnapEDA Desktop App installed yet and clicked the Auto-Import button, you will get a downloaded file in .snap format which you can't actually use unless you have the SnapEDA Desktop App installed.
Below is an example..
Click the Auto-Import button on any part page.
Select the PCB design tool you'd like to open the downloaded part.
Once selected, you will receive a notification that the part has been added to the CAD tool of your choice.
**NOTE: If the CAD tool is not opened, the SnapEDA Desktop App will automatically open it for you.
